JOB SUMMARY
The Laborer is responsible for removing debris from railcars using hand tools and gasoline-operated blowers. This position may also include performing minor inspections as needed, in accordance with AAR, FRA, railroad rules, company policies, and safety procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Remove debris from railcars using designated tools and equipment. Conduct minor inspections in compliance with AAR, FRA, and company policies. Ensure adherence to all safety guidelines and regulations. Operate gasoline-powered blowers and hand tools safely and efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor. Assist team members as needed to meet operational goals. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, walk, grip, reach, kneel, bend, and stoop frequently. Work is primarily conducted outdoors in various weather conditions.
Lifting/Carrying:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Assistance is available for heavier lifting as needed.
Work Hours:
Day shift; may require evening and/or weekend work. Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Equipment Requirements:
Must be able to operate gasoline-powered blowers and hand tools safely.
Education and Experience:
Maintenance experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic problem-solving and organizational skills.
Language and Reasoning Skills:
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English fluently and professionally.
Work Environment:
Outdoor work environment with exposure to various weather conditions. Must adhere to all safety protocols while working in an active railyard.
Vision/Hearing/Speaking Requirements:
Must have sufficient vision to observe areas needing attention. Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and environmental sounds. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
BENEFITS
Full-time employees are eligible for health plan benefits starting the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Employees may cover their spouse/domestic partner and dependent children up to age 26. Medical insurance is offered on a shared cost basis. Dental, vision, and supplemental life insurance are available and funded solely by the employee. At no cost to employees, Hospital Indemnity Plan (requires enrollment in a medical plan) and Basic Life and AD&D are provided. Eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan after reaching age 21 and completing six months of service. Paid holidays and vacation after 90 days of full-time employment.

Valid driver's license required.
