Job Description

EVERETT TRANSIT SEASONAL DAY LABORER
$25.00/hour The City of Everett Transit Department is currently accepting applications for Seasonal Day Laborers. This employment is temporary (up to six months in duration). It is mandatory that the employee in this position contribute to the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System . This contribution is refundable upon the employees request at the completion of employment. These positions are not provided with City of Everett benefits.
NATURE OF WORK
This is unskilled work performing a variety of physical tasks involving clean-up and preparation of work of City transit zones so that they can be painted. Duties include weed eating, clearing out brush, pressure washing, operating a blower, taping off curbs, and helping Transportation Maintenance Technicians with equipment. Additional responsibilities may include the clean-up transit shelters and picking up trash. There is also the possibly to assist with other transit-related projects.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of safety precautions and the ability to identify hazards including electrical hazards. Ability to operate small hand and power tools and light equipment, autos, and pickup trucks. Ability and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions and to keep accurate work records. Ability and willingness to establish and maintain effective working relations with supervisors, coworkers, and the public. Ability and willingness to support diversity and multi-cultural understanding in the workplace. Ability and willingness to maintain a work environment free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Ability and willingness to be punctual and dependable. Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including, but not limited to, weekends and holidays. Ability and willingness to work safely and in compliance with city policies and standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a valid Washington State driver's license.
