Pay:
$20.00 / Hour A Yard Laborer will perform a variety of general labor tasks to support the yard and mechanic shop needs. Highlights of Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist supervisor as needed in all aspects of all jobs assigned. Clean up dirt and debris in work area and/or maintain yard. Diagnose, dismantle, and assist with or directly repair tools and machinery. Assist shipping and receiving in loading and unloading. Organize yard and storage. Drive a forklift (training provided). Use hand tools (drills, saws, read a tape measure). Work independently and with a team. Perform physical labor within variable climates. Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned. Adhere to safety requirements and equipment guidelines. Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Knowledge and Skill Requirements High school diploma or G.E.D.; two years or more of technical auto mechanic training or equivalent experience preferred. Consistent work history Mechanical aptitude and experience preferred. Ability to drive a forklift preferred. Ability to operate various trucks and light, medium and heavy equipment and tools; hand tools, automotive lifts and other hydraulic equipment (for purposes of repair and maintenance) preferred. Significant attention to safety standards, procedures, and practices. Rapid response and accurate problem solving in emergency repair situations. Prioritization of repair issues. Problem identifying and solving skills and ability to explain those problems/solutions to vehicle/equipment users. Physical Demands Must lift 70 lbs. from floor to waist, 90 lbs. from waist to chest, and 25 lbs. from chest to above head. Must carry 50 lbs. for 50 ft., push a 100-lb. wheeled cart for 100 ft., and drag 50 lbs. for 100 ft. Use hands to handle and feel; stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed. Work Environment Typical machinery noise (moderate to loud) Typical production environment odors, such as fumes or airborne particles Hours vary based on departmental and company needs Work is frequently performed outdoors, in weather elements
