Job Title:
ESS Account Specialist Job Description The Enterprise Special Services (ESS) team is rapidly growing and seeking a highly skilled and motivated Account Specialist to enhance the shipper experience for vendors and sellers using inbound transportation services. In this role, you work directly with shippers to identify and resolve transportation issues, drive improvements in shipper performance metrics, and support ongoing innovation in transportation and logistics. You combine strong relationship-building and organizational skills with data-driven decision-making to reduce network defects and improve overall service quality. Responsibilities Monitor, verify, and present transportation and shipper performance data on a daily basis. Identify transportation defects and analyze root causes using available data and stakeholder input. Overcome transportation disruptions and other operational barriers in real time to protect service levels. Maintain detailed daily logs for assigned shippers, capturing issues, actions taken, and outcomes. Lead weekly calls with assigned shippers to review performance, discuss issues, and align on action plans. Lead Daily Business Review stand-up calls to share updates, highlight risks, and track progress on key metrics. Collaborate with shippers to develop practical solutions that improve on-time performance and reduce defects. Provide shipper coaching and performance management feedback to drive continuous improvement. Use Excel spreadsheets to navigate, interpret, and summarize data for reporting and decision-making. Draft clear, concise documents such as process improvement proposals and operational updates. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on expectations and actions. Organize and prioritize multiple accounts and tasks to meet deadlines and maintain high service standards. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a closely related environment. Understanding of basic data analytical skills, including interpreting trends and identifying root causes. Entry-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including familiarity with spreadsheets and the ability to navigate and interpret data. Experience in account management or customer service, working directly with clients or shippers. Ability to write documents on topics such as process improvement proposals and operational recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with shippers and internal partners. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including leading calls and presenting data. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts, tasks, and deadlines. Proven problem-solving abilities in logistics, transportation, intermodal, or supply chain contexts. Ability to manage disruptions as they occur and make sound decisions under time pressure. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background or experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, or intermodal operations is beneficial. Exposure to working with large or strategic customers in a fast-paced environment. Experience in roles that require high levels of coordination and organization, such as event coordination, party planning, real estate, sales, or restaurant operations. Demonstrated ability to hit the ground running in a dynamic, evolving environment. Comfort working with data and metrics to drive performance improvements. Strong relationship-building skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships. Willingness to learn and develop hard skills with the support of training and coaching. Motivation to grow into a long-term opportunity and potentially convert to a full-time role. Work Environment This role is 100% on-site, providing direct exposure to a fast-paced transportation and logistics environment. You work closely with some of the organization's top customers and internal stakeholders, collaborating daily to resolve issues and improve performance. The position involves frequent use of Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools to monitor and present operational data. You can expect a structured yet dynamic setting with regular daily stand-up meetings and weekly shipper calls, offering a strong platform for professional growth and hands-on experience in enterprise-level supply chain operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
