This role is responsible for ensuring raw materials, components, and work orders are properly planned to meet customer demand, production capacity, and delivery commitments. The Planner will work closely with purchasing, production, quality, engineering, and customer service to maintain efficient workflow, minimize shortages, and ensure accurate ERP transaction management throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. A key function of this position is ownership of the manufacturing job lifecycle in Epicor ERP, including job creation, release to production, progress monitoring, and final job closure. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer demand, forecasts, and capacity constraints Create, review, and maintain manufacturing jobs in Epicor ERP, ensuring accurate part numbers, quantities, routings, labor standards, and material requirements Release jobs to the production floor based on schedule priorities, material availability, and production capacity Monitor raw material inventory levels, including gold, precious metals, plating chemicals, consumables, and production supplies Coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials and outside services Work with production supervisors to balance labor, machine capacity, and job priorities Monitor job progress in Epicor and update statuses to reflect actual production activity and work-in-process (WIP) Identify material shortages, excess inventory, production bottlenecks, and schedule risks; recommend corrective actions Maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOM), routings, and planning parameters in ERP Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation of material variances Perform job closure in Epicor by verifying labor, material, subcontract, and quantity transactions are complete and accurate Investigate and reconcile job variances including scrap, yield loss, excess material usage, and cost discrepancies prior to closure Track schedule adherence, on-time delivery, WIP levels, and capacity utilization metrics Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, reduce waste, and optimize inventory Required Qualifications Hands-on experience with Epicor ERP, including job creation, job release, WIP tracking, and job closure, strongly preferred Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, reporting) Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred 3+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, materials planning, or manufacturing operations Experience in manufacturing environments preferred (metal finishing, plating, aerospace, electronics, or industrial manufacturing strongly preferred)
APICS / ASCM
certification (CPIM or CSCP) Experience with precious metals accounting or inventory control Understanding of lean manufacturing, throughput, capacity planning, and inventory optimization Experience working in regulated quality environments (ISO, semiconductor, aerospace, etc.) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) On-time delivery performance Schedule attainment Inventory turns Material shortage incidents Job closure accuracy WIP levels Forecast accuracy Production throughput Physical Requirements Ability to work in both office and manufacturing floor environments Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs Ability to wear required PPE in production areas
