Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a Packaging Materials Planner for a contract opportunity in Atwater, CA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented planning, procurement, or supply chain professional who enjoys working with packaging materials, suppliers, inventory, and cross-functional manufacturing teams. The Packaging Materials Planner will support packaging materials requirements planning, purchase order execution, supplier communication, inventory control, and process improvement. This position plays an important role in ensuring packaging materials are available to support production while helping build a more system-driven planning process using tools such as SAP or similar ERP systems. This opportunity offers a collaborative plant environment with regular interaction across sourcing, planning, manufacturing, quality, warehouse, payables, and accounting teams. The role provides exposure to packaging strategy, supplier performance management, new product launches, artwork changes, and continuous improvement projects. Candidates who enjoy problem solving, analytics, vendor coordination, and fast-paced food manufacturing environments can make a strong impact in this position. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage packaging material requirements planning and replenishment across manufacturing operations to support production needs.
  • Execute purchase requisitions and purchase orders for packaging materials, including poly, corrugate, rigid, and flexible packaging.
  • Maintain supplier communication, monitor delivery performance, and help ensure on-time availability of required packaging materials.
  • Track packaging inventory levels, identify shortages or excess stock, and support strategies that balance service levels with inventory cost control.
  • Partner with sourcing, demand planning, central planning, quality, procurement, manufacturing, and warehouse teams to align supply with production requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, KPI development, risk escalation, and the implementation of more robust system-driven planning processes. Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay range: $26.00 to $30.00 per hour.

  • Hybrid work arrangement: Occasional hybrid flexibility, with the role defined as working at the plant 4 times per week.
