Role:
The Logistics Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods within the supply chain by managing shipping, receiving, and inventory control processes. This position is responsible for coordinating logistics activities, maintaining accurate records, and supporting warehousing operations to meet organizational goals. The Logistics Clerk will work closely with internal teams and external partners to facilitate timely dispatching and delivery of products, including handling international shipments. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential to monitor stock levels, process orders, and resolve discrepancies. Ultimately, this role contributes to optimizing logistics management and enhancing overall supply chain performance within the company.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in shipping and receiving or logistics support roles. Basic knowledge of inventory control and warehouse operations. Ability to manage data through SAP systems/ Data entry Familiarity with supply chain and logistics management principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is often preferred for Logistics Clerk positions. On-the-job training is common, allowing new clerks to learn specific company procedures and software. Experience with data entry, inventory management, and shipping and receiving documentation is highly valued. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills are essential for success in this role. Experience with international shipping and customs documentation. Proficiency in logistics software and inventory management systems. Strong communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
Manage and document all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations. Maintain inventory control by tracking stock levels, conducting regular audits, and updating records in the inventory management system. Coordinate dispatching activities, including scheduling shipments and communicating with carriers and customers to ensure timely delivery. Support warehousing operations by organizing storage areas, operating pallet jacks, and assisting with the safe lifting and movement of heavy items. Facilitate international shipping processes by preparing necessary documentation, coordinating with customs brokers, and ensuring compliance with import/export regulations. Inspect inbound and outbound shipments to confirm that contents and quantities match order specifications, reporting any discrepancies. Serve as a point of contact for suppliers and customers to provide shipment updates and resolve delivery inquiries or issues. Assist in the planning of driver routes and the consolidation of loads to support efficient transportation. Generate reports on logistics performance, including data on shipping costs, delivery times, and carrier effectiveness.
