Job Description

About the Role Takt Engineering is seeking a Production Controller on behalf of a client to own material flow from receiving through kit delivery. This role is responsible for end-to-end traceability across the full material lifecycle: lot receipt, tagging, work order distribution, fabrication, and re-entry into inventory. This is an on-site, hands-on role that requires someone who can both run the process and build the tools to support it. The ideal candidate has experience in a regulated production or shipside environment and the coding skills to implement systems that work. This is not a passive coordination role. We need someone who will identify what is broken, build a fix, and drive it to completion. Job Responsibilities Manage material receiving through kit delivery in accordance with production schedule. Maintain full traceability from lot receipt through consumption and discard, including tagging to internal standards, work order assignment, part fabrication tracking, and inventory re-entry. Coordinate with planning and operations to ensure material availability does not block production execution. Identify workflow breakdowns and escalate or resolve them directly. Maintain strong feedback loops when planning or scheduling issues arise. Build and implement tools or tracking systems to support material control and traceability processes. Ensure compliance with documentation and material handling requirements in a regulated production environment. Required Qualifications Experience in production control, material coordination, or supply chain in a regulated manufacturing or fabrication environment. Coding ability sufficient to build and maintain internal tracking tools and automate manual processes. We are looking for someone who will implement a system, not just describe one.
Familiarity with lot traceability concepts:
tagging, work order tracking, material disposition, and inventory reconciliation. Strong communication skills and willingness to push back when planning, scheduling, or upstream processes are not working. Must be able to work on-site in Costa Mesa, CA. This is not a remote role. Must be a U.S. citizen and legally authorized to work in a regulated defense or industrial environment. Preferred Qualifications Shipside or shipyard experience in a regulated environment (naval, defense, or similar). Experience working in or adjacent to government or military production programs. Background building lightweight internal tools for production tracking, scheduling, or material management. Familiarity with ERP or MES systems in a manufacturing context.
