Job Description

On behalf of an innovative manufacturing client based in Fremont, CA, Randstad is seeking a skilled and proactive Planner/Buyer for a full-time position. In this role, you will serve as the linchpin of supply chain operations, ensuring that all essential components and materials are available in the correct quantities at the precise time to meet production schedules. The ideal candidate will strike a balance between maintaining seamless manufacturing operations and minimizing inventory holding costs. As a strategic hire, you will oversee daily planned order actions, track purchase orders, manage inventory health, and serve as a vital liaison between external suppliers and internal teams-including Production, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics-to support both steady-state manufacturing and new product launches.
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related field (equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered).
Professional Experience:
3 to 5 years of dedicated materials planning, inventory control, or production scheduling experience within a manufacturing environment (prior exposure to electronics, sensors, or medical devices is highly preferred).
Systems Expertise:
Robust, hands-on proficiency with ERP/MRP platforms (specifically SAP, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise systems).
Analytical Skills:
Advanced MS Excel capabilities (including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and
INDEX/MATCH
); experience building visual dashboards (Power BI) and data-heavy presentations is a preferred.
Soft Skills:
Top-tier communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks under tight manufacturing deadlines. Preferred Attributes (Nice-to-Have): • Active
APICS/ASCM
certification (CPIM or CSCP). Background in highly regulated supply chains, such as medical devices (handling traceability and compliance documentation). Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Kanban systems, and continuous improvement frameworks (5S, Kaizen).

$80,000 - $100,000 per yearshift: Firstwork hours: 8 AM - 4

Run MRP/MPS processes to translate forecasts and customer orders into production schedules and material requirements.
PO Execution & Tracking:
Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders; proactively expedite with suppliers to secure on-time delivery.
Inventory Control:
Optimize stock levels (safety stock, min/max, reorder points) to meet service targets while minimizing obsolescence and carrying costs.
S&OP & NPI
Support:
Participate in demand reviews to assess forecast changes; partner with engineering to secure critical long-lead items for New Product Introductions.
Auditing & Discrepancies:
Conduct routine cycle counts and physical inventory audits; investigate and resolve material variances.
Cross-Functional Alignment:
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering on non-conforming materials, engineering change orders, and ERP Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy.
Supplier Performance:
Monitor vendor metrics (OTIF, lead times) and mitigate supply chain risks.
Reporting & Risk Mitigation:
Track key metrics (inventory turns, forecast accuracy) and implement data-driven strategies to reduce Excess & Obsolete (E&O) risks.
