POSITION SUMMARY
The Materials Associate supports the daily operations of Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Shipping & Receiving. This position is designed for an individual seeking to develop a career in Materials Management and Supply Chain Operations. The role provides hands-on exposure to procurement, inventory management, receiving, warehouse operations, supplier communications, and ERP transactions. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
includes, but not limited to: Create, maintain, and track purchase orders, supplier records, pricing data, and inventory transactions within the ERP system. Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, monitor pricing, lead times, order status, and delivery performance, and expedite critical materials as needed. Support supplier relationship management, performance monitoring, and new supplier qualification efforts. Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure materials meet specifications and resolve quality, shortage, and delivery issues. Participate in cost reduction, continuous improvement, and purchasing performance reporting initiatives. Assist with receiving, inspection, stock replenishment, inventory control, cycle counts, and physical inventory activities. Maintain warehouse and stockroom organization, inventory accuracy, and material flow between departments. Support shipping, material handling, and preparation of outgoing materials.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
US Persons only per ITAR Regulations Strong interest in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Procurement, or Materials Management Excellent organizational and follow-up skills Strong verbal and written communication abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Ability to learn ERP/MRP systems
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred) Experience in operations, logistics, inventory management, hospitality management, retail management, customer service, or similar fast-paced environments is preferred Prior purchasing or manufacturing experience is beneficial but not required Demonstrated leadership experience through work, athletics, military service, student organizations, or other activities is a plus
