Production Planner Confidential New Britain, CT Job Details Full-time $65,000 - $75,000 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Operations management Supplier management Inventory management Bachelor's degree Production planning Full Job Description Position Summary The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements while optimizing plant efficiency, capacity, and inventory levels. This role serves as a key interface between sales, engineering, operations, and procurement to ensure timely execution of all manufacturing orders and alignment with business objectives within the foundry environment. The position also supports and drives Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance operational performance, reduce waste, and improve productivity. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) aligned with customer demand, sales forecasts, and foundry capacity.
- Coordinate daily and weekly production plans with Wax, Shell, Foundry, and Machining departments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Review and release work orders, travelers, and job packets based on material availability and operational priorities.
- Monitor WIP status, throughput, and bottlenecks across injection, shell build, pour, and machining operations.
- Collaborate with Procurement and OSP suppliers to ensure plating, heat treat, and other outside processing are aligned with required due dates.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and propose process improvements to reduce lead time and improve first-pass yield.
- Support capacity and manpower planning to balance workloads across shifts and departments.
- Coordinate with Quality and Engineering for rework or non-conformance scheduling to minimize disruption to committed ship dates.
- Support and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, including Lean/6S, waste reduction, and process optimization projects.
- Track and report key metrics including OTD, schedule adherence, WIP days, and production attainment.
- Participate in daily Gemba and leadership meetings, providing visibility to risks and critical-path jobs.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100D, NADCAP, and customer requirements in all planning and scheduling activities.
- Maintain proactive communication with leadership, engineering, and customer service regarding schedule changes or delays. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in production planning or scheduling in a manufacturing or aerospace foundry environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., JobBOSS, Epicor, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills with proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, charts, formulas).
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, routings, and manufacturing travelers.
- Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and attention to detail in a fast-paced production setting. Performance Metrics
