Job Description

Seeking a talented Demand Planner to help drive demand planning, inventory planning, and forecasting capabilities for a world-class manufacturer with an award-winning company culture. This is a high-impact position for someone who can own the forecast, challenge assumptions, and turn complex demand signals into a clear operating plan. The right candidate will bring strong planning fundamentals, analytical discipline, and the confidence to influence decisions across functional areas and with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain rolling 12 to 24 month forecasts at the SKU, customer, and location level. Own statistical and collaborative forecasting processes including forecast accuracy, bias, adherence, and demand assumptions. Segment demand by type, including stable, intermittent, project-based, lifecycle, and end-of-life demand. Incorporate customer programs, product launches, engineering changes, EOL activity, market trends, and OEM demand signals into the demand plan. Translate imperfect, conflicting, or incomplete data into a clear and actionable forecast. Prepare demand inputs for the monthly planning process and align forecasts with inventory, purchasing, and supply strategies. Present forecast assumptions, risks, upside, downside, and confidence ranges to Supply Chain and executive leadership. Serve as the single source of truth for demand assumptions, forecast changes, and documented forecast rationale. Define min/max levels, safety stock logic, replenishment triggers, ABC classifications, and stocking policies by SKU, customer, and demand profile. Recommend stocking and non-stocking classifications and identify customers, items, or demand patterns where VMI may not be appropriate. Identify excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory drivers and escalate gaps between demand and supply before they affect service or margin. Partner with internal teams and external consultants on inventory optimization, process improvement, and future planning tools. Support the evaluation, selection, and implementation of future inventory planning and forecasting systems. Build planning discipline while staying practical in a complex operating environment. Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence decisions without direct authority.

Advanced degree or CPIM certification preferred. 3-5 years of experience in demand planning, inventory forecasting, supply chain planning, or a related analytical supply chain role. Experience with statistical forecasting, collaborative forecasting, demand segmentation, and intermittent or project-based demand. Advanced Excel skills, including forecasting, pivot tables, data modeling, and analysis. Experience with demand planning, inventory planning, ERP, or supply chain planning tools. Financial acumen related to inventory, working capital, service levels, and margin. Strong mathematical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to synthesize imperfect data, work through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and influence cross-functional teams.
