Job Description
Job Summary This position plays a critical role in supporting daily tube mill operations through production scheduling, manufacturing coordination, inventory planning, operational reporting, and plant performance management. The ideal candidate will have experience in steel tubing, manufacturing operations, production planning, or industrial scheduling environments and understand the fast-paced demands of a steel tube manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will work closely with mill operations, purchasing, sales, shipping, slitting, and management teams to ensure efficient production flow, accurate scheduling, material availability, and on-time customer deliveries while maximizing mill productivity, operational efficiency, and plant reliability. Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Scheduling Develop and maintain daily and weekly tube mill production schedules Coordinate production planning based on customer orders, inventory levels, raw material availability, and mill capacity Optimize production schedules to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, and improve throughput Balance production priorities, changeovers, and lead times to support operational performance Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address operational changes and customer requirements Coordinate production schedules across tube mills, slitting operations, and secondary processing activities Operations Coordination & Efficiency Work closely with mill operations, maintenance, purchasing, shipping, and sales teams to support manufacturing reliability and efficiency Monitor inventory levels and material flow to ensure production readiness Coordinate with purchasing and slitting operations to ensure coil availability and proper material scheduling Identify scheduling conflicts, bottlenecks, and operational inefficiencies and assist in implementing corrective actions Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, scheduling accuracy, lead time reduction, and operational performance Assist management in improving manufacturing utilization, labor efficiency, scrap reduction, and production reliability KPI Management & Operational Reporting Monitor, track, and report plant and production KPIs including throughput, downtime, schedule attainment, yield, scrap, labor utilization, and on-time delivery performance Develop and maintain production dashboards, reports, and operational performance metrics Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for operational improvement Assist management in establishing production goals and performance benchmarks Support plant leadership with reporting related to operational efficiency, production output, inventory usage, and manufacturing performance Help drive accountability and continuous improvement initiatives through KPI tracking and performance analysis Reporting & Production Support Maintain accurate production schedules, work orders, inventory reports, and manufacturing documentation Generate reports related to production output, inventory usage, scheduling performance, and operational efficiency Support communication between production, sales, purchasing, shipping, and management departments Assist with forecasting, capacity planning, and long-term production scheduling activities Support daily manufacturing operations and plant coordination as needed Qualifications 3+ years of experience in production planning, manufacturing scheduling, operations coordination, or steel industry operations preferred Experience in steel tubing, ERW tube mills, metals manufacturing, coil processing, or industrial manufacturing strongly preferred Strong understanding of manufacturing scheduling, production flow, inventory management, and operational efficiency Experience managing and reporting manufacturing KPIs and production performance metrics preferred Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, inventory systems, and production scheduling software Advanced Excel and reporting experience preferred High attention to detail with the ability to manage changing priorities effectively Preferred Industry Background Candidates with experience in the following industries are encouraged to apply: Tube mills ERW tubing manufacturing Steel service centers Coil processing and slitting operations Industrial manufacturing Metals distribution Structural steel manufacturing What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience Performance bonus opportunities Health insurance benefits Paid holidays and vacation Retirement plan opportunities Stable manufacturing environment Long-term career growth opportunities within the steel industry About Green Lake Tube Green Lake Tube manufactures high-quality ERW mechanical and structural steel tubing for customers throughout the United States.
