Food Service Director Position Overview New Castle Community School Corporation is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Food Service Maintenance & Logistics Specialist to support the daily operations of our Food Service Department. This position plays a key role in coordinating deliveries, maintaining inventory, supporting kitchen operations, and assisting with basic equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, efficiency, and service for our students and staff. Key Responsibilities Delivery & Logistics Coordinate and complete food and supply deliveries across district sites Safely transport food, equipment, and supplies in accordance with HACCP guidelines Deliver Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) items to elementary schools Transfer inventory between locations and maintain proper documentation Pick up and manage daily deposit receipts from designated locations Inventory Management Maintain accurate inventory of central storage and freezer locations Conduct routine inventory counts at all school sites Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) Monitor product usage and communicate potential shortages or expirations Operational Support Assist in kitchen operations as needed across the district Support summer meal programs and adjust schedule accordingly Maintain knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen procedures Maintenance & Equipment Support Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on food service equipment Assist with cleaning and upkeep during school breaks and summer Communicate with vendors regarding equipment service needs Maintain maintenance logs and report major repair issues General Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all Child Nutrition Program requirements and regulations Maintain accurate records related to deliveries and inventory Demonstrate professionalism with staff, students, and the community Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies Assist with department oversight in the absence of leadership as needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (minimum 5 years) Ability to pass an Expanded Criminal History Check ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire) Skills & Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Effective communication and interpersonal skills Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) Ability to learn inventory management systems Knowledge of USDA meal requirements (preferred) Commitment to food safety and sanitation standards Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Frequent bending, lifting, and squatting Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Benefits The corporation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement (INPRS/PERF), paid leave, and other voluntary benefit options, in accordance with corporation policies.
