Job Description

Summary - Job Responsibilities -
Activities:
The Material Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating material availability to support production schedules, customer delivery requirements, and inventory objectives. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and supporting operational efficiency.
Functions:
Develop and maintain material plans to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments. Collaborate with Manufacturing Management to maintain an accurate and achievable production plan. Monitor material requirements and inventory levels to ensure timely availability of components and raw materials. Analyze material shortages, excess inventory, and supply constraints; develop and implement corrective actions as needed. Execute inventory planning activities, including safety stock management and replenishment strategies. Maintain accurate planning data, inventory records, and material parameters within Oracle ERP. Coordinate material-related activities to support production, engineering changes, and new product introductions. Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, inventory accuracy initiatives, storage, and kitting functions. Initiate purchasing requests and work closely with Procurement to resolve supply issues and expedite materials when required. Monitor and report on material availability, inventory performance, delivery status, and related metrics. Analyze and make recommendations regarding inventory optimization, capacity planning, quality concerns, and cost improvement opportunities. Support implementation of process improvements within planning and materials management functions. Promote safety and adherence to company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Education -
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in material planning, production planning, inventory control, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment. Experience supporting an assembly-to-order or engineer-to-order manufacturing environment preferred. CPIM certification preferred. Experience with Oracle EBS R12 and Oracle Projects preferred.
Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:
Strong understanding of material planning, inventory control, MRP systems, and supply chain processes. Experience working within a manufacturing environment with complex bills of material. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Experience utilizing ERP systems for planning and inventory management. Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Experience developing procedures, work instructions, and process improvements. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
