We're looking for an experienced, hardworking motivated Shipping/Receiving Specialist and Driver for our Hoppe location in Chicopee, MA. The Shipping & Receiving Specialist and Driver are responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and proper documentation of all materials entering or leaving the facility. This role also includes transporting materials between the facility, and local customers or suppliers as needed. The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain accurate shipping records and inventory documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive goods and verify the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers. Compare received shipments against supplier counts and report any discrepancies to carriers, supervisors, and purchasing officers. Accurately verify and record items loaded for shipments. Maintain detailed shipping records, including returned goods, packaging materials, and returnable pallets. Update and maintain shipment records to ensure customer orders are properly recorded and billing documents are provided for accounting. Assist in inventory control activities, including cycle counts and material verification, to maintain accurate inventory records. Notify supervisors of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions. Prepare bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping documentation for outgoing shipments. Complete damage claim forms for any in-transit product damage Move and stage materials within the shipping and receiving areas using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment as required. Safely operate a forklift to load and unload trucks Transport materials and products between the facility and local customers or suppliers as needed. Ensure all delivery and receiving paperwork is properly completed, signed, and distributed. Represent the company in a courteous and professional manner when interacting with customers, vendors, and carriers. Load and unload company vehicles and delivery vans while ensuring materials are properly secured and protected. Perform basic vehicle checks and report maintenance issues to ensure company vehicles remain safe and operational. Perform additional clerical duties as required Perform other duties as assigned to support shipping, receiving, supply chain operations and manufacturing.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received Good knowledge of warehouse, shipping, and receiving procedures Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and inventory software for record-keeping and reporting Must possess a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and the ability to operate company vehicles for local deliveries and pickups. Ability to learn ERP systemsEducation & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Forklift operator license/state motor vehicle permit highly preferredPhysical Requirements:
Ability to move throughout the distribution warehouse, accessing storage areas by stretching, squatting, and reaching Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and load and unload delivery vehicles as required.
