Job Description
Summary The Logistics Technician supports engineering and program teams by managing the flow of engineering materials and equipment from receipt through kitting, staging, and delivery for prototyping, system integration, testing, and shipment. This role verifies materials against documentation, collaborates closely with engineers to review drawings and bills of material, and helps ensure that all required components are available and feasible for system builds in a fast-paced R D environment. Responsibilities Induct engineering materials and equipment, verifying quantities, descriptions, and part numbers against vendor packing slips, purchase orders, and engineering documentation. Review and compare materials against purchase orders (POs) and associated documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness. Work closely with engineers to review drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and design requirements to confirm material availability and feasibility for system builds and integration. Interpret and analyze BOMs to determine required parts, quantities, and any potential material gaps or issues. Support engineering teams by kitting, staging, and preparing materials for prototyping, system integration, testing, shipment, and delivery. Identify material constraints, discrepancies, or design-to-material mismatches and communicate issues promptly to engineering and program personnel. Collaborate in a team environment within the R D lab to assist with the setup, configuration, and teardown of systems based on engineering drawings and test plans. Perform shipping and receiving activities, including processing incoming and outgoing materials in alignment with logistics and supply chain procedures. Use ERP, MRP, and logistics systems to track inventory, update records, and support supply chain visibility. Utilize Adobe Acrobat and related tools to review and process purchase orders and associated documentation. Communicate effectively via email and other tools to coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and program staff. Perform additional technical support tasks as directed by the Project Manager. Essential Skills Experience with inventory, logistics, and supply chain processes, including shipping and receiving of engineering materials and equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and provide feedback to engineering teams on the feasibility of designs based on current inventory and projected orders. Proficiency in interpreting and working with bills of material (BOMs). Hands-on experience working with ERP and MRP systems to support material planning and tracking. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, for documentation and communication. Ability to use Adobe Acrobat to review and process purchase orders and related documentation. Strong attention to detail when verifying quantities, part numbers, and descriptions against packing slips, POs, and engineering documentation. Effective communication skills to clearly report material constraints, discrepancies, and design-to-material mismatches to engineering and program personnel. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, particularly within an R D or lab setting. Active Secret clearance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in logistics or supply chain roles within aerospace, defense, or Department of Defense (DoD) environments. Familiarity with costpoint or similar ERP/MRP systems used in engineering and defense-related organizations. Experience supporting R D, prototyping, or system integration activities. Comfort working closely with engineers and technical staff to support complex system builds. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support additional technical tasks as assigned. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Westford, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
