Prototype Build Planner Location:
Allen Park, MI Schedule:
6AM-3:30PM
EST. M-F.
Some Saturdays as needed
Pay Range:
$19.00 - $21.50 per hour Long term contract to hire Position Overview We are seeking a Prototype Build Planner to support the coordination and execution of prototype vehicle builds for new automotive programs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring vehicles are built on schedule by aligning parts readiness, engineering requirements, and build activities with program milestones. The Build Planner works closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, Suppliers, and Prototype Operations to ensure all components are available and build plans are properly executed. Success in this role requires strong organization, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced automotive development environment. Key Responsibilities Prototype Build Planning & Coordination Develop and maintain detailed prototype build plans for upcoming vehicle builds. Coordinate build timing, sequencing, and resource planning to support program milestones. Track build progress and communicate status updates to program teams and leadership. Ensure all required components are validated and ready prior to scheduled builds. Parts Readiness & Supply Coordination Monitor prototype parts from sourcing and manufacturing through shipment and delivery to build facilities. Identify potential part shortages or delays and escalate risks early. Partner with Parts Management Analysts, Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components. Utilize internal tracking tools to monitor part availability and build readiness. Issue Resolution & Risk Management Identify risks that may impact build timing or vehicle completion. Lead cross-functional issue resolution with engineering teams and suppliers. Escalate supply or engineering concerns when necessary to protect build schedules. Support corrective actions to keep prototype builds on track. Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as a key liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Logistics teams . Participate in program meetings, build readiness reviews, and launch planning sessions. Support coordination between prototype build facilities and program teams. Build Execution Support Assist build teams with part verification, build sequencing, and issue tracking . Capture build concerns and provide feedback to engineering teams to support continuous improvement. Reporting & Documentation Maintain accurate build schedules, tracking tools, and part readiness documentation . Provide regular updates on build readiness, risks, and progress. Develop reports and tracking methods to support prototype program management. Required Qualifications Experience in automotive prototype builds, manufacturing, supply chain, or program coordination . Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Effective problem-solving and communication skills . Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional automotive development environment .
