Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Specialist verifies, receives, organizes, and manages materials to keep operations running smoothly. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring machines remain supplied, and supporting the productivity of the entire team through both physical and digital material management. Responsibilities Pre-load data into the MRP system to prepare for incoming shipments and maintain accurate records. Verify material certifications to ensure all incoming goods meet required specifications and documentation standards. Plan and organize storage space for incoming goods to optimize warehouse layout and material flow. Unload trucks upon arrival, following safe handling practices and proper use of equipment. Inspect and verify incoming materials for quality, quantity, and documentation accuracy before finalizing receipt. Finalize material receipts in the system to ensure real-time and accurate inventory records. Manage inventory by tracking material movement throughout the facility and maintaining up-to-date stock information. Coordinate material needs and availability with purchasing and scheduling teams to support production plans. Support daily production flow by ensuring timely material movement to and from machines and work areas. Maintain both physical and digital tracking of materials to support machine uptime and minimize delays. Communicate effectively with vendors, delivery drivers, internal teams, and leadership regarding shipments, discrepancies, and material status. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused environment in all shipping, receiving, and storage areas, both inside and outside the facility. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including unloading, inspection, and documentation of materials. Proficiency in inventory control, including tracking, organizing, and reconciling stock levels. Ability to safely operate a forklift or similar material handling equipment. Familiarity with inventory systems and the ability to manage shipping and receiving data accurately. Ability to work with an MRP or similar system to pre-load data and finalize material receipts. Strong attention to detail when verifying material certifications, quantities, and documentation. Effective communication skills for collaborating with vendors, drivers, internal teams, and leadership. Organizational skills to plan space for incoming goods and maintain orderly storage areas. Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with MRP or ERP systems in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Experience in coordinating with purchasing and scheduling teams to support production needs. Experience supporting machine uptime through timely and accurate material movement. The position involves both physical tasks, such as unloading and moving materials, and computer-based work in an MRP or similar system. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, with well-maintained spaces inside and outside to support efficient material flow. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benton Harbor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
