Job Description

Advanced Vehicle Assemblies (AVA) HQ is based in Rochester Hills, MI and supports North American HQ and plants in Roseville, Milan, and Monterrey, MX We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Jr. Materials Planner to support our manufacturing operations by ensuring the efficient flow of materials and on-time delivery to customers. This role plays a critical part in coordinating production schedules, managing inventory, minimizing freight costs, and collaborating across departments to meet operational and customer expectations. The position reports directly to the Materials Manager. The position is based in Milan, MI.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, coordinate, and optimize the flow of materials into and out of the plant to support efficient, cost effective operations. Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring customer delivery requirements and production goals are consistently met. Monitor daily production activity and adjust short-term schedules as needed to address changes in demand, supply, or operational priorities. Coordinate expedited shipments (premium freight), including managing logistics, tracking costs, and ensuring proper documentation. Partner with Shipping and Logistics teams overseeing traffic, shipping operations, and inter-plant transportation. Establish and communicate shipping priorities, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to customers. Serve as a primary point of contact for internal teams and customers regarding scheduling updates, order status, and delivery concerns. Utilize OEM customer portals and systems (including Ford, Stellantis, Magna, Nissan, and similar platforms) to manage releases, monitor demand fluctuations, track shipments, and ensure compliance with customer specific requirements. Proactively review and respond to customer schedules, EDI releases, and portal alerts to prevent shortages and mitigate delivery risks. Maintain accuracy of demand signals by reconciling OEM releases with internal ERP/MRP systems. Work closely with Purchasing to ensure timely availability of materials and components required for production. Lead and support inventory control processes, including cycle counts and annual physical inventories, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies. Support coordination of the implementation of engineering changes through effective planning, scheduling, and follow-up Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to resolve production issues and improve overall processes. Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant operations and continuous improvement efforts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree preferred but will consider an Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 2+ years of experience in materials planning, production scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of inventory control, production planning, and logistics processes. Experience working with OEM customer portals and EDI systems Ability to interpret and manage customer releases, firm/frozen schedules, and shipping windows across multiple OEM systems. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing conditions, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external customers. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, particularly in scheduling and inventory management. Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Pay:
$50,000.00 - $62,500.00 per year
