Job Duties:
Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to: This position exists to assist in the administration of District 3's Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Bridge and Road Construction (BARC) programs. The Transportation Specialist supports the Engineering Specialist (ES) by assuming responsibility for inspection, contract administration, project scoping, and technical support. By handling these operational and field-level duties, the TS enables the ES to focus on higher-level program development, funding strategies, and coordination. Performs snow and ice duties. The incumbent is required to be immediately accessible to a phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Experience:
Typically, the level of experience to perform this job at the TS level can be achieved with: Four years of experience performing duties that include inspection and processing of right of way permits, construction plan reading, surveying, design, soils assessment, traffic plan review, right of way review AND/OR water resource plan review. OR Three years of experience performing inspection and processing of right of way permits or related activities and a combination of one year of experience in any of the TSS functional areas (e.g., construction, surveys, design, etc.)Education Substitution:
A two-year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts.) Valid Class B Commercial Driver's license with Tanker Endorsement. Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records. Preferred Qualifications Previous MnDOT experience working as a Laborer, Transportation Associate or Transportation Generalist. Additional RequirementsREFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS
