Job Description

Work Arrangement:
On-site Position Overview The Logistics Specialist is responsible for developing and executing transportation solutions that maximize capacity usage across UniGroup's agent network and brokerage operations. This role involves planning loads, dispatching shipments, and tracking orders from origin to destination to ensure on-time pick-up and delivery. This position supports day-to-day transportation planning and execution within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Logistics Specialist partners closely with agents, van operators, vendors, and customers to build efficient, multi-stop truckloads, optimize capacity, and solve complex logistical challenges. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to piece together moving parts to deliver reliable service and profitability. What You'll Do Plan and approve orders to maximize available capacity, including building multi-stop truckloads that align timing, geography, and customer needs Coordinate load tendering, shipment execution, and day-to-day operational communication to support timely and accurate delivery Track shipments from origin to destination, proactively identifying issues and driving solutions to maintain service levels Communicate regularly with agents, van operators, and carriers via phone and email to coordinate logistics and resolve challenges Monitor shipment-level, carrier, and agent performance to support profitability and equipment utilization Negotiate pricing and payment terms with carriers and members to support margin and service objectives Ensure compliance with company policies, departmental procedures, and transportation regulations (including
FMCSA/DOT
) Support a mix of freight types including LTL shipments, which includes commercial freight and specialized moves (e.g., medical equipment, trade shows, store fixtures) Manage documentation processes including reporting, service paperwork, and operational tracking Respond to quote requests, bundle and review orders, and support service execution for key customers Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues using sound judgment and decision-making Identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, and service outcomes Handle escalations and support team priorities as needed What We're Looking For Required Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience 2-3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to "put the pieces together" in complex scenarios Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Strong communication skills and willingness to pick up the phone and build relationships High attention to detail, organization, and sense of urgency Nice to Have Experience with load planning, dispatching, or carrier management Familiarity with brokerage or third-party transportation environments Exposure to transportation regulations and compliance requirements Experience working with operational systems or TMS platforms Benefits & Work Environment Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with company match Generous paid time off, holidays, and personal leave Life insurance, disability coverage, and employee assistance programs Professional development and growth opportunities Collaborative, team-oriented culture within a respected leader in the moving and logistics industry This role follows a standard Monday through Friday schedule (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) with an established escalation path for after-hours support. The position is primarily onsite, with occasional flexibility for remote work based on business needs.
