We're seeking a detail-oriented Transportation Safety Specialist to join our team and ensure our drivers remain compliant with federal DOT regulations while maintaining the highest safety standards. This critical role serves as the primary liaison between our drivers, operations team, and regulatory compliance requirements. Responsibilities:
Train new drivers on Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and PeopleNet eDriver Log systems Monitor daily driver logs for compliance and make necessary corrections Troubleshoot electronic logging issues and coordinate with Operations and Breakdown teams Safety & Regulatory Management Administer quarterly random drug and alcohol testing programs Audit and maintain driver qualification files in compliance with federal regulations Monitor driver licenses, DOT physicals, and annual reviews including expirations and renewals Process and track DOT roadside inspections and violations Database & Systems Administration Maintain integrity of PeopleNet PFM and Vigillo driver databases Ensure accurate driver assignments to trucks, fleets, and locations Manage EFS/T-Chek card database and issue/cancel cards as needed Generate compliance reports for management Operations Support Take accident calls and route to appropriate Safety Department personnel Provide safety and compliance guidance to Operations staff and drivers Manage Safety Bonus Program database Run monthly log audits, create violation letters, and track corrections Administer Passenger Authorization Policy Qualifications required: High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred Minimum 2 years administrative experience, preferably in a federally regulated motor carrier environment Transportation safety certifications preferred but not required Skills & Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database management Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Professional demeanor when handling difficult situations Ability to maintain confidentiality Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively Technical Requirements Strong keyboard/typing skills Experience with compliance tracking systems (PeopleNet experience a plus) Comfortable learning new software and technology platforms Additional Qualifications, preferred: Document all driver interactions accurately Respond to driver questions during on-call rotation (non-business hours) Sort and distribute departmental mail Complete special projects and assignments as requested Work Environment:
This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs. Pay:
$18-$28 Schedule:
Monday- Friday 11am-7:30pm This is a 3rd shift role requiring 40 hours per week with flexibility for extended hours when business needs arise. The position includes participation in a rotating on-call schedule to support drivers during non-business hours. Benefits We Offer:
