Job Description
Logistics Specialist Walex Products Company in Leland, NC is looking for a Logistics Specialist who will be part of a team of Logistics Specialists in a fast-paced, deadline driven company. Walex Products Company continues to be a successful and now growing company and looking for the right member to join the team. The successful candidate will review open orders and determine the optimal shipping method, freight class, and pallet/piece counts to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery while meeting customer requirements. Given Walex's extensive SKU catalog, this role requires applying product-specific shipping configurations correctly across a wide range of items. This role serves as the link between sales, shipping, and freight carriers to get orders out the door correctly the first time.
Key responsibilities include the following:
Review orders to determine weight, piece count, and pallet count, and select the appropriate ship method (ground vs. LTL)
Apply product-specific shipping configurations across a large and varied SKU catalog, where packaging, weight, and handling requirements differ by item
Identify and apply customer-specific shipping requirements, such as residential delivery, liftgate service, or delivery appointments
Use Odyssey (or designated TMS) to obtain freight quotes and select the carrier/method that best balances customer needs and company cost
Maintain accurate, timely documentation to support on-time shipping and accurate billing Required Qualifications include:
1-3+ years of experience in logistics, shipping, freight coordination, or order fulfillment (manufacturing or distribution environment preferred)
Ability to learn and retain product-specific shipping requirements across a high volume of SKUs;
Comfort working with complexity and exceptions rather than one-size-fits-all rules
Familiarity with LTL/ground freight processes, BOLs, and freight classification required
Experience with TMS/freight quoting tools (Odyssey or similar) preferred
Working knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously
Strong customer-service skills, a team player, an effective communicator and problem solver.
