We're looking for a detail-oriented, analytical Production Planner who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys solving complex scheduling and supply chain challenges. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring our manufacturing team has the right materials, the right priorities, and the right production schedule to deliver industry-leading products on time. Position Summary The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that support customer demand, inventory targets, and manufacturing capacity. Working closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Service, this position ensures materials are available, production resources are optimized, and customer orders are delivered on time. The ideal candidate has experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment, possesses strong ERP system knowledge, and enjoys using data to drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Production Planning Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. Balance customer demand, inventory levels, labor availability, and manufacturing capacity. Release and prioritize manufacturing work orders. Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address changing priorities or constraints. Coordinate production activities across machining, assembly, finishing, and shipping operations. Material Planning Ensure raw materials, components, and outside services are available to support production schedules. Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages before they impact production. Collaborate with Purchasing to expedite critical materials when necessary. Support inventory optimization while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory. ERP & Data Management Maintain accurate planning data, bills of material, routings, and lead times within the ERP system. Analyze production performance and recommend schedule improvements. Generate reports and KPIs related to schedule attainment, inventory, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery. Support continuous improvement initiatives using production and inventory data. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Customer Service to resolve scheduling challenges. Support new product introductions by coordinating production readiness and material availability. Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities. Communicate schedule changes and production priorities to key stakeholders. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations experience. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material flow. Experience working within ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite preferred). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Preferred NetSuite ERP experience preferred. Experience in firearms, aerospace, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
APICS/ASCM CPIM
certification or similar supply chain certification. Experience with demand planning and inventory optimization.
