Job Description

The Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineering Professional provides consultancy services in the Transportation market in New York and across the Northeast. The role is responsible for project delivery and project management, and for positioning and winning projects involving a range of services. The position brings strong technical expertise, sound professional judgement and a practical, solutions focused mindset to complex transport challenges. The Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineering Professional is a technical and project lead for traffic engineering, transportation planning and assessment projects, as well as providing technical guidance and transport planning advice on consulting and design projects; delivering technically excellent transport outcomes. The role facilitates the development of more junior resources to meet market requirements and engages with others in a team environment to facilitate knowledge sharing. The position supports the broader performance unit to ensure it can thrive in a global setting, encouraging cross-geography relationships to maximise the benefit of global delivery to our clients and our people.
  • A Degree or Masters in Engineering, Planning or related discipline.
  • Substantial professional years (post graduate) of experience
  • Design and Build experience desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of the interfaces between transportation planning, traffic engineering, transport modelling and infrastructure design
  • Knowledge and application of transport concepts and tasks and of applying relevant design standards and guidance
  • Experience in the management of studies, assessments, and other technical activities
  • Experience in producing and reviewing high quality designs and reports, ensuring consistency and technical assurance
  • Strong technical background, preferably including:
  • Intersection operational analysis and modelling
  • Traffic signals design
  • Road markings and traffic sign design
  • Preparation of tender documents and works specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex issues to a range of audiences
  • Ability to manage workload effectively while mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development
