Job Description

Hiring a Materials Planner! Job Description The Materials Planner plays a critical role in ensuring that materials and purchased parts are accurately ordered, tracked, and available to support production schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Generate and manage job-related purchase requisitions to ensure materials are ordered accurately and on time. Run MRP and execute material buys to support production needs and meet committed schedules. Expedite purchased materials when necessary and provide clear status reporting to relevant stakeholders. Track material availability and confirm production start readiness dates to prevent delays. Maintain accurate inventory quantities in the system through timely and precise transactions. Coordinate the picking and shipping of purchased inventory parts to support ongoing production and customer orders. Manually record inventory variances and communicate discrepancies to the Planner for resolution. Generate and manage job orders as assigned, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate. Close job orders once completed and verify that all records, transactions, and documentation are correct. Generate and distribute job travelers when required to support production and material flow. Perform daily reviews of open parts orders to identify and address potential delays or gaps in supply. Generate key lists (such as green lists) to provide visibility to production and planning teams. Report part status, shortages, and risks that may impact production schedules or customer delivery dates. Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, and Purchasing on material needs and changes to align material availability with job schedules. Inform Sales and customers of expected ship dates based on material availability and production status. Provide timely updates when material issues may impact production or delivery dates, escalating where appropriate. Support Purchasing and Receiving by providing clear job and material requirements and by following through on parts-related actions. Serve as a key point of accountability for parts-related execution, follow-through, and problem resolution. Work effectively in a semi-chaotic, evolving environment, maintaining composure and focus without relying on a large or highly structured team. Essential Skills 1-3 years of experience in materials planning, production planning, demand planning, inventory control, procurement, or a closely related supply chain function. Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct responsibility for executing tasks rather than delegating them. Experience with ERP systems for managing materials, purchase orders, and inventory; familiarity with NetSuite or Syteline is a plus but any ERP experience is acceptable. Proficiency in materials planning and scheduling, including running MRP and managing material buys. Strong inventory control skills, including maintaining accurate system quantities and resolving variances. Experience with production planning, production scheduling, and coordinating material availability with job schedules. Ability to manage purchase orders, lead times, and supply chain constraints to support on-time delivery. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility.
