Pay Range:
USD $24.10 - USD $28.21 /Hr.

Blythedale Children's Hospital is an independent children's specialty hospital in New York State. Our multidisciplinary team provides critical care to patients with complex medical conditions. We partner with academic medical centers in the Northeast Corridor of the United States to admit patients to our state-of-the-art 118-bed facility. Overview:
The Materials Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery of specialized patient care at Blythedale Children's Hospital. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain workflow—including inventory management, receiving, and distribution—of medical-surgical supplies, clinical equipment, and department-specific materials. By maintaining optimal inventory levels and ensuring strict compliance with healthcare regulatory standards, the Materials Coordinator directly supports our clinical teams in providing exceptional, uninterrupted care to our pediatric patients.
Responsibilities:
Inventory & Supply Chain Management Optimize Stock Levels:
Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of medical-surgical supplies and equipment across all pediatric units and clinical departments, utilizing the hospital's inventory management systems.
Procurement Support:
Initiate purchase orders, track shipment statuses, and proactively address supply chain disruptions, backorders, or delayed deliveries with vendors.
Receiving & Inspection:
Inspect all incoming shipments for accuracy, quantity, and product integrity. Reconcile packing slips against purchase orders and report discrepancies or damaged goods immediately.
Par Level Management:
Conduct regular inventory counts and manage the replenishment of clean utility rooms, supply closets, and specialized clinical carts (e.g., code carts, isolation carts).
Quality Assurance & Compliance Regulatory Standards:
Ensure all storage areas conform to Joint Commission, Department of Health (DOH), and infection control standards regarding cleanliness, temperature, and organization.
Expiration Tracking:
Implement and maintain a strict first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory rotation system to minimize waste and ensure no expired products reach clinical areas.
Recall Coordination:
Promptly identify, isolate, and process manufacturer product recalls in accordance with hospital safety policies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Clinical Partnership:
Serve as the primary point of contact for nursing leadership, physicians, and allied health professionals regarding supply requests, product availability, and urgent material needs.
Vendor Relations:
Maintain professional relationships with medical supply vendors, evaluating performance on delivery timelines, product quality, and cost accuracy.
Financial Stewardship:
Collaborate with Finance and Materials Management leadership to monitor supply expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure accurate charge-capture for patient billing.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or logistics, ideally within a hospital, pediatric facility, or complex healthcare environment. Hands-on experience with healthcare enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), or standard inventory management software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), EMR (Meditech, Lawson). Familiarity with medical-surgical terminology, clinical product categories, and healthcare regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, OSHA). Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.
Education, Licensure, and Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, pull and move equipment and supply boxes weighing up to 75lbs. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods during an 8-hour shift. Ability to meet flexible scheduling demands and patient care needs. Perks of Working at
