We are seeking an experienced Materials Purchasing to support our continued growth and help drive operational excellence throughout our organization. Position Summary The Materials Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, tracking, and managing all materials required for the production and installation of custom cabinetry and architectural millwork projects. Working closely with estimating, project management, drafting, engineering, production, and vendors, this role ensures material availability aligns with manufacturing schedules while optimizing costs, inventory levels, and supplier performance. The ideal candidate combines strong industry knowledge with exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Materials Planning & Procurement Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), material takeoffs, hardware schedules, and procurement packages. Review project drawings, shop drawings, and work orders to determine material requirements. Purchase sheet goods, hardwoods, veneers, moldings, hardware, finishes, countertops, specialty materials, and outsourced components. Obtain vendor quotations, evaluate pricing and lead times, negotiate purchases, and manage supplier relationships. Issue and track purchase orders to ensure materials arrive on schedule. Monitor material costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability and reduce waste. Expedite critical orders to prevent production or installation delays. Monitor inventory usage and replenish materials as needed. Coordinate physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. Project Coordination Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, drafters, and production personnel to understand project requirements. Ensure materials are available to support manufacturing and installation schedules. Track deliveries and coordinate with receiving personnel. Communicate material shortages, supply chain challenges, or schedule impacts to management and project teams. Support successful project execution through proactive planning and coordination. Vendor & Supplier Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Evaluate vendor performance related to pricing, quality, service, and delivery. Resolve purchasing, shipping, receiving, and invoicing discrepancies. Research and qualify alternative suppliers when necessary. Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to maximize value. ERP & Systems Management Utilize Innergy ERP software to manage purchasing, material requirements, inventory, and project-related information. Ensure accurate and timely entry of purchasing and inventory data. Generate purchasing reports, cost analyses, and forecasting information. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing workflows, inventory management, production planning, and operational efficiency. Help drive adoption of technology-based processes that improve accountability, scalability, and performance. Qualifications Required 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or materials management experience in custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, woodworking, construction, or manufacturing. Strong understanding of cabinet construction methods, millwork materials, hardware systems, veneers, hardwoods, sheet goods, and specialty materials. Experience reading architectural drawings, shop drawings, and production documentation. Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), material takeoffs, and purchasing packages. Experience managing vendor relationships and material procurement processes. Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and purchasing software. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Preferred Experience in high-end custom cabinetry or architectural millwork manufacturing. Experience with Innergy ERP, Microvellum, AutoCAD, or similar industry software. Knowledge of inventory control, supply chain management, and production planning. Familiarity with CNC-based manufacturing processes. Experience working within a custom manufacturing environment producing complex, high-end projects.
