Shipping & Receiving /Yard Jockey Job Summary The Shipping & Receiving Associate supports daily material movement operations within a structural steel manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for safely loading and unloading steel materials, verifying shipments, and ensuring accurate handling and staging of materials for production and outbound delivery. The position requires heavy lifting, equipment operation, and strict adherence to safety standards. Shipping & Receiving /Yard Jockey Key Responsibilities Load and unload trucks with structural steel materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment Safely lift, move, and position materials weighing up to 50 lbs. (heavier loads handled with equipment) Receive incoming shipments, verify materials against packing slips, and report discrepancies or damage Prepare outgoing shipments to ensure correct materials, quantities, and secure loading Operate forklifts and overhead cranes in accordance with safety procedures Stage materials for production and outbound delivery as directed Maintain organized shipping and receiving areas to support efficient workflow Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirements Communicate effectively with production, logistics, and supervisory staff Shipping & Receiving /Yard Jockey Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior experience in shipping and receiving or manufacturing environment strongly preferred Forklift and overhead crane experience required (certification a plus or ability to obtain) Semi-truck driving experience preferred CDL not required Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in an industrial manufacturing environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures Must be able to safely operate industrial equipment Work Environment Structural steel manufacturing facility Exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and moving materials Shipping & Receiving /
