Job Description

The Logistics Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and execution of transportation and logistics activities to ensure the efficient movement of goods. This role is responsible for building shipment loads, tendering freight, assigning carriers, monitoring shipments, as well as communicating with both internal and external customers. The Logistics Specialist works closely with multiple departments and business partners to ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Transportation Planning and Execution Build and coordinate shipment loads according to customer and business requirements. Tender freight to approved carriers using company systems and processes. Assign carriers based on routing instructions, service requirements, available capacity, and established business guidelines. Schedule, set pick-up appointments for, and monitor shipments to ensure timely pickup and delivery. Proactively communicate delays, exceptions, or service issues. Maintain accurate transportation records and shipment documentation. Escalate shipment issues and transportation disruptions to appropriate parties when necessary. Customer and Stakeholder Communication Serve as a point of contact for transportation-related inquiries from customers and internal teams. Communicate shipment updates and resolve routine transportation issues. Collaborate with departments including Customer Experience, Operations, Warehousing, Production, Sales, Procurement, and Finance to support business objectives. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders. Facilitate communication across multiple departments to ensure alignment of shipment priorities and customer commitments. Escalate complex issues to management as appropriate. Carrier Coordination Coordinate with carriers to secure transportation services and capacity. Monitoring carrier performance and communication of service concerns when necessary. Ensure carrier information and shipment details are accurately maintained within company systems. Assist with identifying alternative transportation solutions when service disruptions occur. Administrative and Reporting Functions Enter and maintain shipment data in transportation management systems and other business applications. Prepare routine reports and provide transportation updates as requested. Assist with freight invoice review and transportation-related documentation. Support continuous improvement efforts and process enhancements within the logistics function. Maintain accurate records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives. Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities. Support onboarding and cross-training efforts within the department. Attend team meetings, carrier meetings, and company-sponsored events. Assist with data collection and reporting projects. Provide backup support for other logistics and administrative functions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. Frequent communication via phone, email, and video conferencing. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to work additional hours as business needs require. On site office, hybrid, or transportation operations environment. Fast-paced setting requiring attention to detail and effective multitasking. Regular interaction with internal teams, customers, and transportation providers. Ability to work a scheduled shift between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
COMPETENCY, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing deadlines. Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to learn new software systems and business processes. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions using available information. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across multiple departments and levels of the organization. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED required. Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic, with a consistent record of meeting attendance expectations, following through on commitments, and maintaining a positive attitude in a team-oriented environment.
PREFERRED
Additional education, certifications, or coursework in logistics, transportation, supply chain, business, or related fields is a plus. Previous experience in customer service, administrative support, retail, warehouse operations, dispatching, scheduling, call center operations, or other fast-paced environments.
Pay:
$26.15 - $31.49 per hour
