Position Summary:
The Receiving Clerk is the vital first point of contact for all customer instrumentation and equipment entering the laboratory. This role is primarily responsible for securely receiving, unpacking, inspecting, and logging assets in strict compliance with the laboratory's
ISO/IEC 17025
Quality Management System . Accuracy in documentation and preservation of equipment integrity are critical to maintaining accreditation standards.
Pre-Employment Screening Requirements Background Check:
Must successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check prior to employment.
Drug Screen:
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with our drug-free workplace policy. Key Responsibilities 1. Receiving & Inspection (ISO/IEC 17025 Compliance) Unload and receive inbound shipments of customer equipment, master standards, and lab supplies. Perform initial receiving inspections for visible shipping damage, quantity verification, and serial number accuracy. Document any anomalies, "out-of-tolerance" indicators, or compromised packaging immediately to the Quality Manager prior to processing. Adhere to strict laboratory environmental handling requirements (e.g. fragile handling). 2. Asset Logging & Tracking Unpack and label customer instrumentation by purchase order, work order, or quote numbers. Enter inbound equipment metadata (manufacturer, model, serial number, tool number, and condition upon receipt) into the Laboratory Information Management System. Generate internal barcode or tracking labels to ensure traceability through the entire calibration lifecycle. 3. Laboratory Workflow & Staging Route incoming calibrated assets securely to designated staging areas or specific laboratory bays based on calibration discipline (e.g., RF, dimensional, torque, pressure). Verify that all accessories (e.g., power cords, probes, manuals) accompanying the instrument are logged, secured, and stored with the unit to prevent loss. 4. Inventory & Housekeeping Maintain inventory of receiving materials, boxes, and specialized packing supplies. Ensure the receiving area, unpacking stations, and staging areas are clean, organized, and compliant with lab safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; technical or logistics certification is a plus.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, ideally in a precision manufacturing, technical, or laboratory environment preferred.
Quality Focus:
Direct experience working in
ISO/IEC 17025, ISO
9001, or regulated environments (FDA, cGMP) strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience navigating LIMS or inventory databases.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, and capable of identifying discrepancies in documentation or serial numbers.
Physical Demands:
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, and comfortably stand or walk for extended periods.
