About this position The HDM Logistics Specialist provides logistical support for home-delivered meals programs including inspecting and receiving food deliveries, ordering and maintaining inventory, conducting freezer/cooler and equipment checks, providing training for delivery drivers and facility staff, routing daily deliveries, troubleshooting, ensuring vehicles are safe and maintained, driving to make deliveries as needed, supporting facility operations, and streamlining processes. Program Exercises independent judgment in day-to-day delivery operations, including routing decisions, service interruptions and problem resolution. Identifies inefficiencies in meal ordering, delivery and inventory process. Develop and monitor forecasts to identify changes or to determine their effect on inbound materials and outbound finished goods. Meet all health regulations. Responsible for inclement weather and disaster planning as it relates to meal deliveries and contingency planning with staff and service delivery providers. Support KC Meal Linkand the Rooftop at KC Meal Link processes, procedures and operations. Logistics Coordinate product planning, inventory control, shipping and receiving functions. Create and maintain regular last-mile routing and delivery schedules, including contingency plans for missed or delayed deliveries. Create a plan to provide advanced notification of delivery, including delivery tracking, precise dates and times of delivery, and maintain ability for consumers to easily request delivery changes. Assist with the maintenance of the facility, including some building maintenance oversight and the regular schedule of maintenance and repairs on all equipment and grounds. Monitor vendor performance related to meal quality, delivery timelines, and service issues; escalate concerns as appropriate. Track and analyze delivery data, client feedback, and operational metrics to identify trends and recommend service improvement. Administrative Complete monthly delivery reports, assist with monthly reconciliation. Ensure proper food safety practices are maintained. Maintain equipment, including service records and recommended manufacturer maintenance on vehicle and freezer unit Reconcile monthly receipts for gas and other facility or vehicle and building related purchases. Train delivery drivers and facility staff. Document incidents, accidents or other disruptions and follow established reporting procedures. Support regular inspections and compliance reviews related to food safety and program standards. Customer Service Complete last mile deliveries as needed. Respond to client concerns or calls. Coordinate deliveries with product vendors. Communicate with clients to notify of delivery delays, changes, or cancelations, and review and analyze menu feedback from clients. Provide services in a manner that maintains dignity, safety, and independence for clients. Serve as a liaison between vendors, community partners and staff.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work involves exerting up to100poundsto push, pull, or otherwise move objects and up to 50 pounds of lifting, in varying temperatures (outdoor, freezer, cooler).This position requires walking or standing to a significant degree. This position requires the ability to bend and reach both ground level and overhead. Other physical requirements include holding and gripping objects, ability to communicate clearly to accurately convey information, visual ability to distinguish color, acuity and depth perception. This is primarily afield-based position with most duties completed outside of an office environment. However some work may be completed at our main office or remotely where appropriate. May be required to adjust work hours for events, delivery schedules, building maintenance, inclement weather, emergencies or other service disruptions. This is an in-person position located in Kansas City. While some flexible scheduling can be accommodated for, remote work nor a set-hybrid schedule are available for this position.
About You:
Your Background A high school diploma or GED plus a minimum 5 years of experience, or a degree and a minimum 3 years of experience is required. Demonstrated knowledge of fresh or frozen food management and food safety practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and manage a diverse workforce. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact respectfully with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. This person will have access to client homes. A driving record and background check are required. ServSafe Manager certification preferred. Your skills, knowledge, and abilities Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and safety. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to take initiative to plan and complete assigned work with a high level of accuracy. Proficiency of Word, Excel, Teams, Office 365, and ability to learn and use various software platforms. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to assist coworkers with projects and work outside normal responsibilities for the good of the organization. Ability to work professionally with people from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Seeks ways to improve processes and service delivery.
