Senior Logistics Specialist Company:
Lower Westchester company seeks hands-on Senior Logistics Specialist. This key position is a core member of the Global Logistics Team responsible for freight tendering, quotations, procurement, and operational service delivery for its customers. The Senior Logistics Specialist is a part of the global logistics organization working together to provide global support to the company's business. Qualified candidates should have a strong background in providing clients with superior operational and customer service, by ensuring the team is providing timely service response to internal and external inquiries. Responsibilities (others may be assigned): Provide operational and customer service support for Logistics Ensure timely service response to internal and external inquiries Responsible for establishing and/or obtaining rates from suppliers (e.g., ocean carriers, truckers, rail companies and break-bulk carriers), service status updates, and managing customer specific solutions Manage all aspects related to operational execution and service delivery and manage/coordinate with suppliers as required Handle all relevant documentation requirements and keep accurate files and records Optimize profitability in existing business by seeking to improve existing rates as well as seeking out alternative cost-effective solutions Ensure that all rates quoted are accurate, complete and valid Flag any logistics issues coming to light to management Claims handling support Comply with all federal, state and local legal requirements Knowledge, Skills and Ablities Excellent understanding of international and domestic transportation industry and in particular, international shipping and related cost drivers In depth understanding of international/domestic documentation processes High level operational support and customer service at all times under all circumstances Good communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) with individuals at all levels Organizational and time management skills- multi-tasking and prioritizing, planning work activities efficiently to meet deadlines and high-level goals Customer / Solutions focused with a strong drive for cost effective and error free execution Experience with Ocean Carrier contracts and rating Excellent knowledge of MS office products and ability to quickly adapt to software Required work experience: Bachelor's Degree
- Freight Forwarding (import and/or export) Transportation Management Tendering and quoting of rates Documentation for domestic and international shipping Ocean carrier, paper industry, and/or supply chain management experience a plus
