makes it happen! We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Transportation Specialist to join our dynamic Supply Chain team. In this role, you will play a critical part in optimizing transportation networks, improving cost efficiency, and ensuring seamless movement of goods across the entire value chain. You'll collaborate closely with plants, carriers, and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and deliver impactful results. Key Responsibilities Transportation Strategy & Optimization Design and implement comprehensive transportation concepts across the entire value chain, with a focus on improving transit lead times, cost efficiency, and route optimization
Maintain visibility and transparency of transportation networks and costs, including special freight
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including network redesigns, route optimization, and cost-saving opportunities—especially during product launch phases
Provide guidance to plants on transportation and warehousing improvements Operational Excellence & Support Manage and organize additional transportation solutions for critical or urgent situations
Support plants and customs teams in handling time-sensitive transportation requests
Execute transportation-related operations to ensure smooth daily logistics performance
Support and manage transportation-related insurance claims when needed Carrier Management & Procurement Prepare transportation data and quotation documentation for carrier negotiations
Request and evaluate pricing from freight forwarders and assist in selecting service providers during operational changes
Maintain and track contract conditions, including transit times and service levels
Contribute to carrier strategy development and execution Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement Support the standardization and optimization of transportation tools, processes, and guidelines
Continuously update transportation routings and pricing (e.g., FTL, LTL, milk run) to reflect network changes
Monitor and analyze cost drivers such as fuel surcharges, tolls, and regulatory changes Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations Management, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience in Supply Chain or Logistics, with a solid understanding of: Supply chain planning and transportation processes
Customs and international trade requirements
Transportation KPIs, global/regional standards, and regulatory frameworks 2-3+ years of hands-on transportation experience
2+ years of experience in the automotive industry preferred
Experience working with carrier portals and transportation tools
Familiarity with Lean Supply Chain methodologies (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, problem-solving frameworks)
