Job Description

Location:
Rapid City, SD Job Summary:
The Ground Transportation Specialist is public facing, customer service position. The position requires oversight of daily operations of our parking lots and curbside. This role includes coordinating maintenance, resolving passenger issues, issuing parking permits and enforcing parking regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors the parking facilities and coordinates equipment maintenance plans and repairs by performing basic repairs and coordinating major repairs with vendors. Maintains all equipment repair records. Processes parking and ground transportation applications and issues necessary permits and maintains inventory. Responds to public questions, comments, and concerns relative to the department activities including parking activities, enforcement, snow removal, general customer inquiries. Resolves parking and ground transportation disputes. Reviews portals, audits tickets, and maintains records of parking operation and parking enforcement. Collects and interprets data; develops and implements plans, reports, and internal control procedures. Keeps track of inventory and supplies and orders as needed. Coordinates general maintenance repairs and snow and ice control operations of the parking lot. Makes a daily mail run to City Hall to retrieve and deliver mail. Monitors curb usage; controls usage and issues citations when required. Works variable hours, to include weekends and holidays, and on-call as needed.
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Business, Management, or related field is preferred. 1-year related experience preferred; areas include, aviation, parking systems, ground transportation, or customer service. Must possess a valid driver's license or ability to obtain prior to hire. Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge as a condition of employment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, internet proficiency, and use other modern technology. This includes tablet style devices. Basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting abilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to produce and maintain accurate written reports. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to establish good working relationships and provide excellent customer service. Must be able to interact with a diversity of people. Technical skills for reading and interpreting technical data. Computer skills including spreadsheet, database and word processing programs. Ability to operate required equipment and troubleshoot technical/mechanical problems. Ability to coordinate parking facility utilization, work independently and use good judgment. Mechanical, inventory control, and/or procurement experience beneficial.
Work Environment:
Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Frequently required to walk; sit and talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
