Job Description

Overview The Material Planner/Buyer will play a key role in supporting production by ensuring materials are available, inventory is accurate, and purchasing activities are aligned with plant needs. This position is responsible for planning and purchasing materials for a plastic roto-mold manufacturing facility, including resin, BOM materials, components, and production supplies. The role will work closely with production, inventory, suppliers, and other plant locations to prevent shortages, resolve material issues, coordinate inventory needs, and support efficient plant operations. Responsibilities Plan and purchase materials needed to support roto-mold production, including resin, inserts, fittings, labels, and production supplies. Follow up with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery dates, pricing, lead times, and open purchase orders. Ensure purchase orders and material records are accurate and updated in a timely manner. Monitor upcoming production needs and identify material shortages before they impact the schedule. Analyzing usage trends, demand changes, and material requirements. Communicating clearly with production, suppliers, and other plant locations. Prioritizing urgent production needs while maintaining inventory discipline. Support cycle counts, physical inventory activities, and inventory accuracy improvement efforts. Anticipate material needs before they impact production. Communicating material risks early and clearly. Respond quickly to supplier delays, production changes, and inventory issues. Experience Manufacturing operations or a similar production environment. Experience with inventory control practices, including cycle counts, min/max levels, reorder points, safety stock, and physical inventory. Familiarity with supplier lead times, purchase order processes, vendor communication, pricing, and order follow-up. Understanding of how material availability affects production flow and basic production scheduling. Working knowledge of ERP/MRP or inventory management systems.
Pay:
$17.00 - $24.00 per hour
