Job Description
Job Title:
Manufacturing Data Analyst Job Description This contract role focuses on analyzing manually maintained manufacturing data and developing automated systems to streamline production-related information. You will support the launch of a manufacturing system by collaborating closely with the engineering team to document, structure, and input critical data such as Bills of Materials, routings, item masters, part numbers, descriptions, costs, time standards, and process routines into a proprietary platform. The position is technically oriented and heavily IT-driven, involving data manipulation, system integration, and the transition from manual processes to automated reporting and scheduling tools. Responsibilities Analyze manual data from multiple sources and design automated solutions to streamline information flow across production scheduling, downtime tracking, runtimes, and Bills of Materials. Support the launch and ongoing configuration of a proprietary manufacturing system by documenting and entering essential manufacturing data, including Bills of Materials, routings, item masters, part numbers, descriptions, costs, time standards, and process routines. Manage and create database structures that support product information management, inventory control, and warehouse management functions. Collaborate with engineering and other internal departments to ensure data accuracy across multiple systems and to oversee proper processing of inventory from purchase through consumption. Understand and apply knowledge of production processes, including routes, stage areas, and picking locations, and assist in determining appropriate minimum and maximum inventory levels. Ensure all Bills of Materials are accurately documented in the system with complete and correct details, such as part numbers, descriptions, costs, and routings. Monitor system data and performance, identify inconsistencies or gaps, and provide ongoing feedback and recommendations for system optimization. Supply, analyze, and input missing or incomplete information into the system to maintain comprehensive and reliable data sets. Pull data from multiple systems, consolidate it, and build automated reporting and dashboards, for example by taking Excel-based data and configuring Power BI or similar tools to generate recurring reports. Perform data analysis and review inventory transactions to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement. Work with proprietary systems similar to CMMS or WMS platforms used for production scheduling, monitoring, scrap tracking, and related manufacturing functions. Essential Skills Proficiency in Bill of Material creation and a strong understanding of BOM components, including part numbers, descriptions, costs, and routings. Experience working with routings, including defining processes for finished products and identifying the necessary machinery, tools, and labor for each step. Hands-on knowledge of Power BI or similar ERP/MRP or reporting systems used for manufacturing and operations data. Strong data management skills, including the ability to manipulate and structure data within multiple systems and databases. Ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints to accurately interpret product and process requirements. Solid logic proficiency and general problem-solving skills applied to system and data challenges. High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of manufacturing and inventory data. Experience in manufacturing systems analysis, with exposure to production, inventory, or engineering systems. Experience in data analysis, including reviewing and interpreting transactional and operational data. Experience working with engineering systems or engineering documentation and administration. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data handling, transformation, and preparation for reporting tools. Comfort working in a technical, IT-driven role focused on manipulating and integrating data across systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree is acceptable, particularly in a technical, engineering, IT, or related field. Experience analyzing data and reviewing inventory transactions in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Mechanical experience or familiarity with mechanical components and processes is advantageous. Experience in schedule planning or production planning is beneficial. Experience with system analysis in a manufacturing or warehouse context. Familiarity with CMMS, WMS, or similar manufacturing and warehouse management systems. Interest in transitioning from manual data processes to automated solutions and continuous improvement of systems. Desire for a contract role with potential for long-term engagement based on performance and business needs. Work Environment The role is based in an automotive manufacturing environment, supporting a stamping project for a production plant. You will work closely with engineering and operations teams, interacting regularly with a proprietary manufacturing system similar to CMMS or WMS platforms used for production scheduling, monitoring, scrap tracking, and inventory management. The work is primarily technical and system-focused, involving significant time working with data in systems such as Power BI and Microsoft Excel, as well as within internal manufacturing and engineering systems. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, system reliability, and timely data availability to support manufacturing operations.
