We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our team. The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating production schedules, releasing travelers and work orders, to ensure customer requirements are effectively communicated and executed throughout the manufacturing process. This role serves as a key liaison between Sales, Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Engineering, and Shipping to support on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. This role supports the manufacturing operation and reports directly to the Inside Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Review customer orders and production requirements to establish work order priorities. Generate, review, and release travelers and work orders to the production floor. Ensure travelers contain accurate routing, specifications, drawings, and supporting documentation. Coordinate production schedules to support customer delivery requirements. Monitor open work orders and communicate schedule changes, delays, or potential issues to appropriate departments. Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Engineering, and Shipping to ensure timely order completion. Review material availability prior to releasing work orders and identify potential shortages. Maintain accurate records and updates within the ERP system. Generate reports and support planning-related documentation as needed. Identify and escalate scheduling, material, or production issues that may impact customer deliveries. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and workflow efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, production scheduling, production coordination, or a related role. Experience working with ERP systems and manufacturing documentation. Familiarity with work orders, travelers, bills of material (BOMs), and production schedules. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field. Experience in wire harness, cable assembly, electrical panel manufacturing, or contract manufacturing environments. Knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, and inventory management principles. Experience coordinating production schedules across multiple departments. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
