Job Description

Utah Valley University is seeking a Transportation Technician to support the operations of the Utah Fire & Rescue Academy and Emergency Services programs. In this role, you will help ensure that essential training vehicles and equipment are ready when students, faculty, and staff need them. By fueling, maintaining, servicing, and delivering fleet vehicles, you play an important part in keeping hands-on training programs running smoothly and safely. Your work directly supports the preparation of future emergency service professionals and contributes to the success of programs that serve communities across the region. Ensures preventative maintenance and state inspections on fleet vehicles are completed in a timely manner. Ensures fleet vehicles and apparatus are fueled, washed and serviced for the continuation and progression of Emergency Services and Utah Fire & Rescue Academy programs. Makes necessary purchases and acquires supplies with appropriate approvals to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operations of the Transportation Division. Reports any damages to defects, failures, or safety hazards of vehicles to supervisor and take action as advised to remedy the issue. Enters and updates data associated with inventory control, and scheduling and maintenance of fleet vehicles. Responsible for maintaining accurate records and files. Responsible for maintaining certifications required to perform various duties, including but not exclusive to forklift and Class B CDL license. Performs other job related duties as assigned. This may include assisting the logistics program as needed. A high school diploma from a standard high school or the equivalent and any combination of post high school education and/or directly related full-time experience to the summary of duties totaling one year is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fork Lift certification
Active Class A CDL License Required Licenses/Certifications:
Active Class B CDL License Knowledge Knowledge of mechanical operations. Knowledge of standard automotive repair procedures and techniques. Knowledge of vehicle lift systems. Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and ordinances pertinent to automotive and maintenance. Skills Basic computer skills and knowledge. Skills with managing and prioritizing multiple projects and assignments. Abilities Ability to drive up to class B vehicle. Ability to maintain accurate records and files. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to work in a team environment.
