Job Description

The Assistant Supply Chain Manager acts as the critical bridge between strategic planning and tactical execution for Lincoln Wood Products. This role supports the Supply Chain Manager in architecting end-to-end operations while directly overseeing the daily procurement, material flow, and inventory integrity of wood, glass, metal, and hardware components. The Assistant Manager serves as a frontline leader for Purchasing and Production Clerks, ensuring that the high-level material requirements planning (MRP) translates into uninterrupted production of premium windows and patio doors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Procurement Provide day-to-day guidance and developmental coaching to Purchasing and Production Clerks to ensure departmental alignment. Assist in supplier qualification, contract negotiation, and price analysis, while directly managing the processing of purchase orders for all material categories. Review supplier acknowledgments for accuracy in cost, quantity, and technical specification compliance. Material Planning & Inventory Control Execute material planning methodologies to ensure consistent availability of cut stock, IGUs, and hardware. Directly oversee the receipt, validation, and reconciliation of incoming materials across all plant locations. Analyze MRP outputs to determine replenishment triggers, economic order quantities, and safety stock levels. Lead routine inventory audits and support the Supply Chain Manager in the planning and execution of the annual physical inventory and financial valuation. Systems Integrity & Data Management Maintain the integrity of the part master table, including costing structures and Bill of Materials (BOM) architecture. Troubleshoot ERP/MRP scanning errors, transaction issues, and system discrepancies in collaboration with IT. Develop and validate product costing models to ensure financial reporting accuracy. Production Support & Continuous Improvement Coordinate delivery schedules and resolve material constraints to sustain a 100% production flow. Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to address nonconforming materials and implement yield enhancement initiatives. Champion cost optimization and workflow efficiency projects across the fenestration value stream.
Qualifications Experience:
3-5 years in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain, preferably within the fenestration industry or a complex manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Certifications:
APICS CPIM, CSCP, or comparable certification is highly desirable.
Analytical Ability:
Strong aptitude for detail-oriented work, including interpreting technical drawings, engineering specifications, and complex BOMs.
Communication:
Ability to articulate technical concepts to both shop-floor employees and executive leadership.
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
