At WPG Shippers Association, we combine the fast-paced energy of freight brokerage with the stability and relationship-driven focus of a member-based organization. We are expanding our capacity solutions team and looking for a driven, detail-oriented professional to help us grow our network, optimize freight movements, and deliver exceptional service.
Position Overview:
As a Logistics Specialist , you will manage a hybrid desk focused on both carrier procurement and freight execution. You will act as a critical link between our members and external transportation providers—negotiating rates, securing capacity, and tracking shipments from pickup to delivery. This is an active, phone-heavy role that requires sharp negotiation skills, quick problem-solving, and a competitive drive to hit goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Capacity Procurement & Negotiation:
Source external transportation providers, negotiate competitive rates, and secure reliable capacity for diverse freight modes.
Shipment Execution & Tracking:
Plan, monitor, and track freight movements using WPG proprietary systems; proactively communicate transit milestones and updates to Members.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain a strong pool of qualified, safe, and reliable carriers while fostering long-term trust with WPG members.
Business Development:
Actively solicit new business and capacity solutions to support the ongoing expansion of our transportation team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with shared services and the billing department to ensure accurate, timely invoicing and swift resolution of customer or carrier issues.
Team Support:
Manage multiple fast-moving projects simultaneously and provide back-up support for planning and cartage dispatch roles as needed. What We Are Looking For (Qualifications):
Experience:
Prior experience in freight brokering, logistics coordination, inside sales prospecting, or B2B customer service is highly preferred.
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional phone presence and the ability to interact, influence, and negotiate effectively with carriers and clients alike.
Tech-Savvy:
Proficient in MS Office programs with the ability to quickly master proprietary logistics systems and transportation management software.
Mindset:
A self-motivated, competitive professional who thrives under minimal supervision, loves hitting weekly/monthly goals, and brings a sense of urgency to problem-solving.
Practical Skills:
Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a solid familiarity with geography, map reading, and commercial routing.

Job Type:
Full-time Base Hours:
Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, overtime as needed. Flexibility on time is possible.
Pay :
$47,000-$55,000 annually
