Hybrid Join a leading telecommunications organization supporting one of the nation's largest transport networks. As an Engineer-Transport IV , you will play a critical role in planning, engineering, and delivering transport network capacity while supporting strategic infrastructure growth and next-generation network technologies. Engineer-Transport IV Responsibilities Engineer and initiate Capacity Creation Requests (CCRs) for U.S. domestic ULH and OTN Mesh transport network builds. Perform transport planning, forecasting, capacity monitoring, and network analysis to support current and future business demands. Design and engineer SONET and DWDM transport solutions, including detailed equipment specifications and complex Visio diagrams. Coordinate network growth requirements, including power, space, cooling, fiber, and diversity planning. Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), order equipment, racks, hardware, and cabling, and manage vendor deliveries. Maintain and update network inventory systems including ICON, Nautilus, CoFEE, and CCP. Create diversity projects, perform wavelength rearrangements, and support multi-year transport capacity planning. Collaborate with engineering, operations, project management, capital planning, GTNOC, and other stakeholders to ensure successful network implementation. Analyze transport data, prepare reports and presentations, mentor junior engineers, and participate in on-call support, team meetings, and occasional local travel (approximately 15%). Engineer-Transport IV Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering. 5 10 years of progressive experience designing SONET and DWDM transport systems. Extensive logical (non-physical) knowledge of SONET and long-distance transport networks. Experience creating complex engineering diagrams using Microsoft Visio. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience consolidating data from multiple tools into centralized databases or repositories. Ability to lead initiatives, mentor teammates, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation. Candidates must be local at the time of submission. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Telecommunication systems such as ICON, CCP, BGW, NAUTILUS, CANVAS, TCOMS, or nSAP . Familiarity with transport inventory, provisioning systems, and telecommunications infrastructure planning. The ideal Engineer-Transport IV combines deep transport engineering expertise with strong collaboration and leadership skills to support critical network expansion projects.
