Job Description We are looking for a Packaging Engineer to join the team immediately in McLean, VA. This will be a fully onsite role, from 8:30AM
5PM, Monday
Friday.
This role requires direct, hands-on supply chain experience. You must understand the full path a product takes — planning, sourcing, fabrication, logistics, delivery, and support — and be able to keep a project moving through every stage. As a Packaging / Supply Chain Systems Engineer, you'll work with a cross-functional team to develop the product and manage its movement through the entire cycle.
What You'll Do:
Support planning activities, including estimating, BOM creation, scheduling, routing, and early technical scoping
Build and refine 2D/3D models using PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and Windchill
Evaluate suppliers, qualify vendors, and support procurement with technical requirements
Manage sourcing: pricing, lead times, POs, BAA/COO compliance, QC documentation, and vendor performance
Oversee fabrication workflows including steel cutting, welding, machining, coatings, inspections, and NDE
Support manufacturing fit-ups, dimensional checks, and manufacturability reviews
Coordinate logistics such as inbound materials, vendor-to-vendor moves, oversized shipments, port handling, and final delivery
Prepare and support documentation including MTR packs, COC/COO documentation, inspection reports, and handling guides
Track performance, delivery milestones, supply chain risks, and quality issues across all stages
Work closely with the Program Management Team to align requirements, risks, and schedules
Act as the technical bridge between BD, Engineering, suppliers, logistics partners, and customers

5-10 years of experience in aerospace, heavy manufacturing, logistics engineering, or supply-chain optimization
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Systems or related field)
Proven ability in mechanical design, product packaging, supply chain operations, platform or fixture engineering
Proven capability in mechanical design, complex product packaging, supply chain operations, platform or fixture engineering, and cargo movement analysis.
Familiar with CAD tools (Creo, or Inventor) and structural validation tools (FEA, test correlation).
Understanding of logistics routing, carrier operations, and handling standards
