Materials Supervisor Position Overview:
The Kitting Coordinator is responsible for assembling and organizing parts, materials, and tools into kits to support production and project schedules. This role ensures that all necessary components are accurately prepared and delivered to the appropriate areas, maintaining efficiency and minimizing downtime. The Kitting Coordinator will work closely with inventory, procurement, and production teams to ensure timely and accurate kitting operations.
Responsibilities:
Assemble and organize kits containing all necessary parts, materials, and tools required for production or project execution. Ensure accuracy and completeness of kits by verifying against work orders, bills of materials (BOMs), and other documentation. Collaborate with inventory and procurement teams to ensure required materials are available and properly allocated. Maintain an organized and efficient kitting area to streamline operations and prevent delays. Perform regular inventory checks to ensure accurate stock levels for kitting purposes. Identify shortages, discrepancies, or damaged materials and coordinate with appropriate teams to resolve issues. Label and document kits clearly to facilitate easy identification and usage by production teams. Track and update the status of kitting activities in relevant systems or databases. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance kitting processes and efficiency. Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards in the kitting process.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is a plus. 1-3 years of experience in kitting, materials handling, or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing or defense environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in kitting operations. Basic understanding of inventory management practices and systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with ERP systems is a plus. Ability to interpret bills of materials (BOMs), work orders, and other technical documentation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs] as needed.
