Thiele Kaolin Company 520 Kaolin Road Sandersville, Georgia 31082 478-552-3951 Employment Opportunity Mine Utility Operator Thiele Kaolin Company, a leading provider of tailored mineral solutions, is currently recruiting for a Mine Utility Operator. This position is located in Deepstep, Georgia.
JOB DESCRIPTION, SKILL REQUIREMENTS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Operate heavy equipment required for mine site utility tasks, which include pump, float, and generator installation or movement, poly pipe fusing and installation, drainage culvert installation, slope drain installation, light grading and earthwork tasks associated with surface water or pit water management.
- Monitor and coordinate the effective installation of BMP's to control surface water and reduce erosion.
- Coordinate with Maintenance personnel to safely troubleshoot, remove, and repair dewatering pumps.
- Work well with others and with little supervision.
- Attend any required training.
- Know Quality Policy, goals and objectives and how job affects them.
- Understand basic company safety rules and MSHA rules and regulations.
- Know what protective equipment is needed for each task.
- Must be able to swim.
- Know site specific hazard awareness.
- Know how to use and access MSDS.
- Know tag and lockout procedures.
- Coordinate with Mining Manager and Clay Coordinators to assist with scheduling daily mining activities with contractors.
- Assist Clay Coordinators occasionally to grade ore hauled from pits utilizing mine plans derived from prospecting data.
- Monitor pit pumps daily and correct problems.
- Monitor and maintain sediment and erosion control of mine site.
- Conduct general mine site management.
- Operate mining equipment as needed.
- Monitor contractors' compliance to TKC standard operations and correct problems.
- Monitor contractors' compliance to MSHA regulations and correct problems.
- Monitor compliance to Surface Mining Land Use Plan.
