Job Description

Mercer Stone Company is seeking an Assistant Quarry Manager to join our operations team! Manages daily quarry operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining strict safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Leads crews, coordinates maintenance, and optimizes processes to maximize productivity and profitability. Key Responsibilities Operations Management Oversee material processing activities. Ensure production goals and quality standards are consistently achieved. Monitor plant performance and adjust operations for efficiency. Coordinate scheduling of equipment and workforce. Leadership & Supervision Train, mentor, and evaluate employees. Enforce company policies and promote a strong safety culture. Maintenance Coordination Work closely with maintenance teams to minimize downtime. Ensure preventive maintenance programs are followed. Plan major repairs, shutdowns, and equipment upgrades. Safety & Compliance Enforce MSHA safety regulations. Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits. Maintain proper documentation and reporting. Budget & Cost Control Develop and manage operating budgets. Track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities. Control inventory of parts, fuel, and supplies. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong leadership and team management skills. Deep knowledge of quarry operations and aggregate production.
Understanding of:
Crushing and screening systems, drilling and blasting processes and heavy equipment operations Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations (MSHA preferred) Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to analyze production data and improve efficiency. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED (required) 2-5 years of quarry, mining, or heavy industrial experience preferred. Prior supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
