COMPENSATION
: $22/hour Position Overview The Assistant Supervisor supports the Supervisor in overseeing daily operations of litter abatement crews, ensuring tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and to contractual standards. This role serves as a bridge between Supervisors and Crew Leads, handling both operational oversight and hands-on participation in fieldwork as needed. The position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining safe and productive working environments. Primary Responsibilities Assist in coordinating up to 12 team members in litter abatement and related operations. Support the Supervisor with planning, crew assignments, and meeting operational goals. Provide clear communication and direction to crew members to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity. Assist with onboarding and training new team members, ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations. Act as the on-site lead in the Supervisor's absence, covering daily operations and decision-making as required. Monitor crew performance and report progress, challenges, or concerns to the Supervisor. Safely operate company vehicles (with trailer) to transport crew members and equipment to job sites. Set up, move, and pick up highway awareness signs throughout the workday. Perform hands-on fieldwork when needed, including litter pickup along roadways, medians, and other designated areas. Complete and submit accurate daily reports on crew activities, safety incidents, and equipment status. Communicate hazards, unsafe conditions, or operational issues to the Supervisor promptly. Ensure compliance with all safety rules, proper use of protective equipment, and adherence to traffic laws.
Qualifications Education :
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience :
Leadership experience required; prior supervisory or crew lead experience in outdoor, manual labor preferred.
License :
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required). Must be willing to drive vehicles with trailers attached.
Skills :
Strong leadership and conflict resolution abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use basic technology (smartphones, apps, and email). Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to follow and relay instructions clearly.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day over rough, steep, or uneven terrain in all weather conditions. Capable of lifting 25-50 pounds multiple times daily. Use of grabber tools and other small equipment. Work Environment Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, moving traffic, fumes, and loud noise levels. Work will involve long periods of standing, walking, and physical activity.
