- what you'll do Barr isseekinga highly experienced senior environmental consultant with a strong mining focus to work with clients toidentify, scope, and manage integrated environmental permitting and engineering projects across the full life cycle, from greenfield development through closure.
- key responsibilities Permitting and compliance: assisting clients with permitting, environmental regulatory compliance, and related technical assignments.
Client service:
collaborating with clients to identify and address environmental issues, including regulatory applicability determinations, preparing compliance plans and reports, developing permitting applications, and performing technical and economic feasibility studies.Client management:
sustain and grow relationships with existing mining clients through successful project execution and consultative engagement.Team leadership:
leading and managing highly collaborative project teams and developing internal team members.Agency engagement:
participating in meetings and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel.Business development:
engaging in business development activities, including the development of proposals, scopes of work, and appropriate budgets. About the opportunityHybrid:
a hybrid arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office; a remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Reno, Nevada, office or Salt Lake City, Utah, office.Travel expectation:
up to 25% of the time, may vary depending on client needs.Work environment:
projects mayrequiretime on site at industrial and mining facilities. Some locations include rough terrain, limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of construction or industrial sites. Work may involve wastedisposalsites or locations requiring hazardous materials cleanup. As needed, safety training will be provided, and an OSHA-mandated physical exam (HAZWOPER) or MSHA training may berequired. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. About you- required core competencies
Education:
bachelor's degree in mining, civil, or environmental engineering, geology, or a related discipline.Experience:
15 or more years of experiencedirectly relatedto the mining industry, including environmental review, permitting, and reclamation. Recent environmental consulting experience.Relevant skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and direct multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven consulting environment. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and consultatively with clients, regulators, and project teams. Proven skills in negotiation, problem-solving, project organization, and producing high-quality deliverables. Track recordof meeting deadlines, fulfilling commitments, and mentoring staff. Driver's license: possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future. Helpful additional experience (not required): Familiarity with regulatory agencies and officials in western U.S.jurisdictionssuch as Mexico, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Established relationships with mining clients and strong industry knowledge. Participation in mining-related trade organizations such as NMA, SME, and AEMA.Compensation:
Anticipated salary range of $120,000 to $170,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
