Job Description

Specialized Blasting Services (SBS) is seeking an experienced Manager to provide on-site leadership for drilling and blasting operations in Lovell, WY. This is a hands-on role focused on coordinating drilling activities, supporting safe and efficient blast execution, and leading SBS crew members in the field while working closely with mine personnel and earthmoving contractors. This position is best suited for a working field leader with solid, practical experience in drilling and blasting within a surface mining production environment. Position Overview The Manager will supervise a crew of 4-7 people, with support from company leadership, office staff, and other experienced team members. This role is responsible for carrying out blast designs in the field, including coordinating drill layouts, implementing timing, and determining appropriate powder factors based on ground conditions and production goals. The Manager will also provide field-based input on fragmentation, changing geology, and drill performance to help maintain consistent and efficient blast results. Operations & Field Leadership Lead field execution including layout, loading, tie-ins, and shot initiation Monitor production rates, drilling accuracy and blast performance Safety & Compliance Support and enforce company safety standards and regulatory requirements (MSHA, OSHA, ATF) Lead pre-blast meetings, hazard assessments, and ongoing safety efforts Team Leadership Lead and support a crew of drillers, blasters, and laborers Help assign daily tasks and ensure the crew has what they need to succeed Promote a strong safety culture and team accountability Technical & Project Support Implement blast designs and work with leadership on adjustments when needed Optimize blast performance for fragmentation, vibration control and cost efficiency Coordination & Communication Communicate regularly with clients, mine personnel, and contractors Provide updates on progress, delays, and operational changes Coordinate inventory and usage of explosives and accessories Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay Health, dental, and vision insurance 100% company paid Retirement plan with company match Paid time off and holidays
Pay:
$110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
